Greeting by
H E Ms Sheila Camerer,
Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa
to the Republic of Bulgaria

South Africa is very enthusiastic about our role for the first time as Partner Country in this year’s Vinaria — the largest and most prestigious wine show in Eastern Europe. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase South Africa’s excellent wines and South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry is sponsoring six top wineries which have never previously offered their wines in Eastern Europe to be on the show. Their winemakers will offer wine tastings to give visitors an opportunity to savour South Africa’s special New World taste in the year we proudly host the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In addition, the many agents for South African wines in Bulgaria will exhibit their wines on our stand.

On the cultural front South Africa’s top young black soprano Pretty Yende, 25, has been released by La Scala in Milan to give one recital at the Plovdiv Fair Congress Centre’s Bulgaria Hall on the second day of the show.

As South Africa’s Ambassador to Bulgaria I am proud to say that some of the best we have to offer can be enjoyed at Vinana 2010!
