PrintCom 2009 to showcase printing industry ready for post-crisis economic recovery

The 11th International Exhibition of Printing Communications PrintCom 2009, to be held from 2 to 6 June at the Fairgrounds, reflects the situation of the printing industry sector. The participating companies provide ways out of the economic downturn and new ideas for sustaining market positions.

Participants are some 200 leading companies from 24 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa exhibiting the latest technologies, products and services in the field of printing industry, publishing systems, paper and cardboard products, packages and labels, computers and printers, advertising. PrintCom 2009 demonstrates the modernization of the Bulgarian printing industry underway and the development of the sector directly related to the production of goods.

PrintCom is a UFI-approved event organized by International Fair Plovdiv in cooperation with the Printing Industry Union of Bulgaria, Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies and Polygraphia Magazine.

As a satellite event of PrintCom 2009, the WebXpo will take place for the first time.

PrintCom 2009 has registered 193 participating companies from 24 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Republic of Korea, Republic of South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and USA. The Bulgarian companies number 53, while the foreign companies total 140, which is an increase by 9% compared to the previous year.

The largest number of foreign exhibitors belongs to Italy (25), Germany (24), USA (21) and China (14).

On display at PrintCom 2009 are 20 innovative products (9 worldwide innovations, 11 new products on the Bulgarian market).

The unique 13th International Fair Poster Competition, organized by International Fair Plovdiv jointly with UFI - the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, presents 100 exhibition event posters submitted by 32 UFI Member venues and exhibition organizers from 22 countries. At the Annual UFI Congress to be held in October 2009 in Zagreb, the results will also be announced and the winner of the Grand Award will receive their trophy. The artists and the creative studios involved in the preparation of the winning entry will also receive certificates. All entries in the competition are exhibited in Pavilion 11 from 2 – 6 June 2009.

The 8th National Corporate Calendar Competition has attracted 30 companies presenting 36 Bulgarian calendars unique in their corporate design to be seen in Pavilion 11. The jury is presided by Alexander Radoslavov, Chairman of Graphic Design Section of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.

The National Printer of the Year and Trader of the Year Competition is organized by the Printing Industry Union of Bulgaria in cooperation with International Fair Plovdiv. The awards, a miniature model of Gutenberg’s printing press and a diploma, are handed on PrintCom 2009 opening day.

The 10th National Annual Review of the Bulgarian Photographic Art ACADEMICA 2009 takes place from 2 to 6 June in Pavilion 11. On display are 232 photographic artworks nominated among 922 photographs by 138 Bulgarian authors. The awards are presented on 2 June. The prestigious event is organized by the Photographic Academy National Association in close partnership with International Fair Plovdiv for the second time in succession.

WebXpo 2009 is scheduled for 5 and 6 June in Bulgaria Hall at the Congress Centre. Designed for online media, 2.0 web sites, internet services, Internet business services, web design, web developments, Internet marketing, online shops, web and mobile applications, careers and funding, personal websites, blogs, etc. WebXpo 2009 aims to foster personal contacts between companies and organizations active in the Internet sector across Bulgaria.
